My Obsession: Matt and Nat

Posted on

Cruelty-free living is a lifestyle choice, not for everyone. Unless you are raised a vegan from birth, it is hard to create the lifestyle from scratch in one move. I have been interested in cruelty-free products for years. It wasn't until I truly had my own purchasing power plus disposable income that I was able to really start making the switch.

Each season, I purge unused/unwanted/ill-fitting items from my closet to donate. I then have the space for new purchases. Sounds familiar right? What I have changed is what brands I am purchasing. I peruse fashion magazines and blogs, but when I find something I like, I do not automatically pull out my debit card. Especially regarding leather goods and footwear, I always check what it is made of. If the item is made of animal materials, I try to find a vegan dupe on another website. With time, I have found sites that specifically carry cruelty-free or vegan product lines. It makes it so easy!

One brand I have come to love is Matt and Nat. MAT(T)erial and NATure, as they call it, is inspired by just that: eco-friendly materials and the colors of nature. Founded in Montreal, Matt and Nat believe in "social responsibility, excellence, inclusiveness, integrity, learning, authenticity and, of course, love." They utilize recycled and non-animal based materials including cardboard, rubber, and cork. I love their quote, "Simply put, we don’t like hurting animals and we care about the welfare of the planet." Easy as that.

My first Matt and Nat purchase was a piece from their Dwell Collection. The Central Wallet (I have the color "Azur") has a zip around closure with multiple card slots, two bill slots, and a zip coin purse. This wallet is offered in five different colors, from brights to neutrals. It is the perfect size to slip in your tote or to carry as a clutch if needed as well!
My newest piece is the Hope round cross body. I have had my eye on this bag for a while now and this spring I finally made the decision to go for it! I love that it is only offered in black, a neutral that goes with everything. This bag has dual zippers with interior pockets. I fit my iPhone, lip glosses, business cards, a portable charger and still have room for more! The shape is eye-catching and such a conversation starter! The best part about this bag is that 100% of the purchase price goes toward a charity of your choosing. They give you a list of 10 charities ranging from animal welfare to breast cancer awareness. I chose the Beagle Freedom Project to donate my $70.00 to!
IMAD loves any brand that shares its values! If you are in the market for a new spring accessory, definitely check out Matt and Nat! The range of products is complimented by their range of prices. Not to mention, you will be doing the planet good by supporting this sustainable brand!
